W. David Myers

W. David Myers passed away on June 26, 2024, after a long-protracted illness. He was born on April 13, 1938, to William Denver and Bertha Mathers Myers. He was the oldest of four children. His early life was spent in the company of extended family in the small town of Clarksville, Ohio. In his youth at Wayne Township High School (later Simon Kenton), he was an award-winning student in science, art, and writing. As a teenager he was a prolific artist and sculptor, working in the basement of his family's home near Lees Creek and studying with Philip Hodge at Wilmington College. Throughout high school, he was active in 4H leadership roles. He was selected as a delegate to the Ohio 4H Congress and then to the National 4H Congress in Chicago. At the age of 17, he was elected president of the newly created Clinton County Junior Fair Board whose objective was to coordinate and highlight achievements across all Clinton County youth organizations.
